The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Lead on the strategic development of the security of the council services ensuring an integrated approach with all departments and contacts across the council to ensure compliance with CPIN standards.
  • Forge professional working relationships with key stakeholders including the Police, schools and small businesses that will impact on security across the borough.
  • Establish a close working relationship with Internal stakeholders such as Facilities Management (FM) and Digital Services (DS) and external advisors such as CPIN and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) particularly with regards to counter terrorism to ensure that the council meets its obligations.
  • Ensure rigorous service performance monitoring and management with regard to the security strategy. Review arrangements that are in place and ensure that all remedial actions are identified and undertaken where necessary.
  • Lead investigations into security concern, breaches, evidence control and due process, working closely with the Metropolitan Police Service when required.
  • Attend the Risk Management, Health & Safety and Assurance Board meetings and ensure appropriate links are made with the council’s risk assessment process including Health & Safety representatives, so that security-related issues are an integral part of that process.
